Never has a horror movie so perfectly embodied paranoia. The entire story, as seen through her eyes, could have been a chain of only superficially sinister coincidences, a product of her feverish fancies." Polanski, an agnostic who was never comfortable with the spiritual connotations, wanted to make sure there was always a question about whether "Rosemary's supernatural experiences were figments of her imagination. What makes Roman Polanski's story of a woman who's pretty sure she's having Satan's baby so creepy is that Mia Farrow's character (and the audience) is never entirely sure of the truth.
